Experience List:
1️⃣ Test Scores:
Initial Results:
Listening: 9
Reading: 7
Writing: 7 (raised to 9 after re-evaluation)
Speaking: 6 (raised to 8 after re-evaluation)
Expected Scores:
Listening: 7
Reading: 9
Writing: 10
Speaking: 10
2️⃣ Preparation:
Spent one month preparing for the exam, mainly on weekends.
Resources: Mad English, YouTube, and CELPIP practice tests 1 and 2.
Focused on understanding the test format rather than deep studying.
3️⃣ Test-Day Challenges:
Felt stressed during Listening, which negatively impacted Reading.
Found the questions in Listening and Reading harder than the content itself, with some questions having two seemingly correct answers.
Writing and Speaking initially seemed good but were later re-evaluated to better reflect performance.
4️⃣ Insights and Tips:
Familiarize yourself with the test environment: Taking practice tests in exam-like conditions is key.
Note-taking: Only use it if you're comfortable; otherwise, avoid unnecessary distractions.
Templates: Create your own and paraphrase common ones. Avoid overused templates.
Time Management:
Practice Reading to avoid running out of time.
Allocate extra time for Speaking preparation.
Stress Management: The less stress, the better the result.
5️⃣ Test Center Experience (Precise Solutions, Calgary):
Equipment (keyboard and headphones) was good quality.
The environment allowed for focus, even during Speaking.
However, the staff were not particularly friendly, though it didn’t impact the test.
6️⃣ Future Plans:
Planning to take another test in 5 months.
Improvements:
Work on note-taking during Listening.
Ensure personalized opening and closing statements for each Speaking task.
Use a customized Writing template.
Practice Reading to increase speed.
Focus more on CELPIP official practice tests.
Final Note:The better you manage stress, the better your results will be.
