My IELTS Experience & Advice
Overall:
✅ Stay calm and patient throughout the exam.
✅ Losing focus or getting anxious can negatively impact your score.
Speaking:
✅ I didn’t prepare much for this section, but here’s what helped:
Speak clearly and confidently, but don’t shout.
The examiner will guide you through the conversation, so don’t be nervous.
Avoid forcing complex grammar or vocabulary if you’re not confident using them—this can lower your score.
Writing:
✅ Plan your Task 2 essay before writing—it saves time and effort.
✅ Avoid repetition, especially in Task 1, as it affects your score.
✅ Use only words, phrases, and idioms you’re 100% confident with.
✅ Take time for proofreading and spell-checking.
Reading:
✅ Use the highlighter tool in the computer-based test—it makes finding answers easier.
✅ Read regularly beyond IELTS practice tests to improve comprehension.
Listening:
✅ Stay fully concentrated—even a slight distraction can cost you points.
✅ Listen to podcasts and music regularly, and try to visualize the words as you hear them.
